about

Ancient Astronauts unveil a dynamic collaboration album spotlighting Uganda's Cypher Kabaka Hip Hop crew.

Following their groundbreaking "ZIK ZAK" album, Ancient Astronauts returns with an electrifying new collaboration that places the spotlight on the lyrical prowess of the Hip Hop collective Cypher Kabaka hailing from Kampala, Uganda.

Building on their rich legacy of collaborating with diverse African talents across nine countries, Ancient Astronauts embarks on a new musical journey. This time, the focus is on Cypher Kabaka, an ensemble of remarkable rappers – Niinna MC, Phitzo Kiganda, Spyda MC, Natural Calamity, Taye, and DXL Magezi. All members are integral parts of the Nilotika Cultural Ensemble, a dynamic 15-piece band celebrated for its fusion of traditional Baganda music, Nyabingi rhythms, Reggae vibes, and indigenous Hip Hop, all played on traditional instruments.

The lead single from this upcoming collaboration album is titled "Gwakke," meaning "let it burn." The track features Spyda MC, an exceptionally gifted freestyle MC who has made a significant mark on the vibrant music scene in Kampala. Spyda MC is also renowned as a member of the European-African collective Nihiloxica, celebrated for their cross-cultural sound that melds ancient Baganda drumming with contemporary dancefloor electronica. Their releases on Nyege Nyege Tapes and Crammed Discs, alongside mesmerizing live performances, have garnered international acclaim.

"Gwakke" delves into Spyda MC's experience of enjoying the company of old friends in a local bar, celebrating life's simple joys while being surrounded by great music and camaraderie. The song carries a profound message – that true happiness is found in positivity and authenticity, steering clear of pitfalls and negativity. It is a tribute to the guidance Spyda MC received from his mother – a lesson to embrace love, overcome fear, and stand up for justice. Hip Hop is the foundation upon which life is built, an art form that fuels dreams and aspirations.

Amidst the verses of "Gwakke," Spyda MC urges listeners to ignore naysayers, follow their dreams, and set an example for those in need. The message of empowerment and resilience flows like the River Nile, promising liberation and transformation for all.

As Ancient Astronauts and Cypher Kabaka join forces, the forthcoming album promises an immersive experience that transcends cultural boundaries and echoes the heartbeat of Africa's vibrant music scene. English version - Let it burn

Intro:
yeaah, you know what we do when we do what we do!

Verse:
This is joy just be happy, no time waiting
HipHop in bungalows mansions we locked
When the candles lights thats joy and love
For the hope of unity i see the way and light
Now come near to all family so we can toast
We still sipping, how comes ya telling its finish
Time is not what tells me when to get back home
As long as i meet my fellow champs with whom i grew, we gonna blast
Dont break me this sexy girl moving up and down
She tearing me apart, holding my mind still, while she pulling me
I aint hearing the music no more, she the only one i see in the bar
like a rat am heading towards the trap
Turn around and please dont feel anyway
I just think u can ease this pain squeezing me
I dont play no jokes, when i see a beauty on show off, am sending for her and drinks there
After

Chorus
Burning, burn it
Burning, burn it
Whenever we see traps, we seek elsewhere
Burning,burn it
Burning, burn it
Wherever joy be is where we gonna be
Berlin, burn it
Kampal , burn it
We walk the soldier, no slow motion
Afrika, burn it
Rise up, burn it
Breaking the chains that lock us up is a must
verse
Bonabanna my mother only schooled me love
And she taught me, whatever is to scare, should be something new
You pave your own way, leave the rest, it´s all repetition
Yes we love vegetables but its cud be too much of eggplants
brain steaming up, like house rat, city type like
While the rich feed on the table, we right there under
We dont catch scalds, and we dont fear evil
All those be trailor containers, they be followers
In my visuals i already saw it, am only waiting for the day it manifests
Into exactly what He showed me
The picture of the sun while standing in rays shinning, as i glitter like the heavens
Iam never dropping my blessing, am grown no rush no more, plus this energy cracks rocks
We kick doors while they sip porridge
Squads that only hype each other
HipHop amongst builders, i been an engineer

Chorus

Outro

They are always taking it far
They always take it too far

Verse
All of those are only here to still the show but aint gat the flow
Only when you set up lights, thats when they show up
Iam me born kampala, this rap culture, its me the hold the bag for
Up on top of them is where am at, Medical HipHop i be the source
Blah blah keep talking as we do the walk
We bursting poetry like prophet Mutabaruka
Tired of rumormonger, landmines we be dodging
It surprises me, scaring me, while i jokingly laugh
We dont bark, we just bite, with no warning
Just watch me, u dont know my thoughts am kibuli raised
About to take over this country, these brains heavy
And for those who scatter due to poverty, tell them i should stand as there sign of hope
These waters is blessings Nalubaale (Lake Victoria) is where we shower
And then the Nile free us.
