about

After much respect and appraisal for the "Kabanjak meets Protassov: Grow" album and its first EP, the time has come to celebrate the release of EP2, bringing along another fine selection of tracks, partly in remixes and versions exclusively cut for this EP. Kabanjak and Protassov, Switchstance Recordings' main producers, have grown strong during the last years with the label. They have also gained respect as remixers for labels such as Stereo Deluxe, Fort Knox, Sunshine Enterprises, Loop Recordings, Nanny Tango, Temposphere or Six Degrees. On the "Grow EP2", the opener "Brain In Dub", produced by Kabanjak and appearing here for the first time in its all-new "Rockers'n'Tings Mix" version, delivers a heavy experience inna JBeez-rub-a-dub-style. The "Protassov Remix" of the track takes this rhyme-fest to the fast lane - speeding up the original vocals and adding a not-so-dubby dope beat, complete with drips of some wild sax. "Let's Make Friends" is one of the more B-boyish moments taken from the "Grow"album and offers a load of funky guitar, organ and, once again, sax. By the way: “Let’s Make Friends” was just picked up by Element Skateboards Europe as the trailer-song for it’s “Rise Up” DVD, their first video since 10 years!!

The flipside starts with the long-awaited remix of Italian beat-freak Painé from Temposphere Records: "Walking 'Round The Block" has in his hands become a gem that is sure to please NuJazz heads and B-Boys alike. Closing the EP2 are two remixes of the atmospheric "These Streets We Walk": Ancient Astronauts take it to the Big-Screen-Soundtrack level with their beat- and mood-heavy remix and Protassov again speeds things up a little with his version bringing the original guitar motif into the spotlight while also providing another set of innovative drums.
